คำขวัญประจำจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด คือ
สิบเอ็ดประตูเมืองงาม เรืองนามพระสูงใหญ่ ผ้าไหมสาเกต บุญผะเหวดประเพณี
มหาเจดีย์ชัยมงคล งามน่ายลบึงพลาญชัย เขตกว้างไกลทุ่งกุลา โลกลือชาข้าวหอมมะลิ
วันนี้เรามารู้จัก
“เรืองนามพระสูงใหญ่” กันครับ
ถ้าท่านเดินทางมาถึงเมืองร้อยเอ็ดโดยขับรถตามถนนรอบคูเมือง
ท่านจะเห็นพระสูงใหญ่ยืนเด่นเป็นสง่า
ใช่แล้วครับ ผมกำลังพูดถึง “พระพุทธรัตนมงคลมหามุนี (หลวงพ่อใหญ่)”

พระอารามหลวงชั้นตรี
เดิมชื่อวัดหัวรอ
เป็นวัดเก่าแก่ของเมืองร้อยเอ็ด สร้างขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. ๒๔๕๖ ตั้งอยู่ติดคูเมืองเก่าด้านตะวันออกของจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด
อยู่ในเขตเทศบาลเมืองร้อยเอ็ด มีเนื้อที่ทั้งหมด ๒๙ ไร่ ๓ งาน ๙๗ ตารางวา
พระพุทธรัตนมงคลมหามุนี
(หลวงพ่อใหญ่) เป็น พระพุทธรูปปางประทานพรที่สูงที่สุดในประเทศไทย
เริ่มสร้างเมื่อปี พ.ศ.๒๕๑๖ สร้างด้วยคอนกรีตเสริมเหล็ก
ที่ฐานของพระพุทธรูปมีห้องพิพิธภัณฑ์จำนวนหลายห้อง
พระพุทธรัตนมงคลมหามุนี
มีความสูงจากพระบาทถึงยอดเกศ ๕๙ เมตร ๒๐ เซนติเมตร และมีความสูงทั้งหมด ๖๗ เมตร ๕๕
เซนติเมตร นับว่าเป็นความวิริยะอุตสาหะของท่านพระครูสิริวุฒเมธี
เป็นอย่างยิ่ง
เรื่องของปางประทานพรนั้น ในพุทธประวัติกล่าวว่า พระพุทธเจ้าทรงประทานพรให้คน ๓ คน คือ พระพุทธเจ้าทรงประทานพรให้หมอชีวกโกมารภัจจ์เรื่องให้พระสงฆ์รับคหบดีจีวร (ผ้าสำเร็จรูปที่ชาวบ้านถวาย)
ได้
พระพุทธเจ้าทรงประทานพรให้พระอานนท์
ให้เข้าเฝ้าทูลถามปัญหาได้ทุกเวลา และทรงประทานพรให้นางวิสาขาถวายเครื่องบริโภคอุปโภคแก่พระสงฆ์
ซึ่งเป็นประโยชน์แก่พระสงฆ์และพระศาสนาได้

Mina’s Stories
Wat Buraphapiram is located in the city
center of Roi-Et. The country’s highest standing Buddha image in blessing gesture
or known by Roi-Et people as “Phra
Buddha Rattanamongkol Mahamunee” or “Luang
Po Yai” is enshrined in this temple.
From the head to the feet, the image is 59.20
meters in height, and the total height from the base to the image’s head
reaches 67.55 meters.
The project of building the highest image of Phra Buddha Rattanamongkol Mahamunee
was initiated by Phrakrusiriwutthimethi.
The
image is in the position of blessing. The blessing means "to accept someone's request."
Lord Buddha blessed three persons. He
allowed Jīvaka Kōmārābhacca, the famous doctor, to receive saffron
robes from people.
Lord Buddha allowed Monk Ananda to give services to him at
all time. Lord Buddha also allowed a
lady Visākhā to do offerings to the monks.
On
your next visit to Roi-Et, I would like to invite you to come to worship the
highest standing image of Buddha at Wat
Buraphapiram.

Wat Buraphapiram est situé dans le
centre-ville de Roi-Et. Il était autrefois appelé « Wat Hua Ro ». Ce temple fut construit en 1913. Il abrite l'image
de Bouddha la plus haute du pays dans un geste de bénédiction. Cette grande
statue est connue sous le nom de « Phra
Bouddha Rattanamongkol Mahamunee » ou «
Luang Po Yai », symbole de la province de Roi-Et.
De
la tête aux pieds, la hauteur de l'image est de 59,20 mètres. La hauteur de la
base à la tête de l’image atteint 67,55 mètres. Le projet de la construction de
la plus haute image de Phra Bouddha Rattanamongkol Mahamunee fut initié par Phrakrusiriwutthimethi.
La
bénédiction veut dire « accepter une demande de quelqu’un ».
Le
Bouddha a béni trois personnes. Il a permis au docteur Jīvaka Kōmārābhacca de recevoir des robes safran des gens.
Le Bouddha a permis au moine
Ananda de rendre service auprès de lui. Il a permis aussi à une dame Visākhā de faire des offrandes aux
moines.
Lors
de votre prochaine visite à Roi-Et, venez adorer Phra Bouddha Rattanamongkol
Mahamunee, la plus haute image de Bouddha en position de bénédiction au Wat
Buraphapiram.
